高桐院の概要
高桐院は京都市北区紫野にある、臨済宗大徳寺派・大徳寺の塔頭寺院です。
1601年(慶長6年)に細川幽斎の弟である玉甫紹琮を開山として、幽斎の長子忠興により建立されました。
江戸時代初期に造園され、中心に石灯籠がある苔庭は、素朴で簡素ではありますが美しく、調和がとれた静寂な庭園です。
紅葉の見頃は、例年11月下旬～12月上旬頃です。
新型コロナウイルス蔓延のため、2020年4月から当分の間、拝観を休止されています。
